Townsend Drug & Spirits is correcting inaccurate information in an insurance notice mailed October 2, 2026, to affected Blue Cross Insurance group members. The notice stated that Townsend Drug would no longer be included in the network beginning November 17, 2026.

The pharmacy has contacted the insurer and confirmed that Townsend Drug & Spirits is contracted with the Blue Cross Insurance plans and will remain in the network. Members can continue filling their prescriptions locally and using their in-network prescription benefits. There is no need to transfer prescriptions because of the October 2 notice.

According to Townsend Drug & Spirits, an insurance representative has advised that a corrective notice is scheduled to be mailed October 20, 2026. The pharmacy hopes this clarification will ease concerns for community members who received the original letter.

Townsend Drug & Spirits also accepts several other insurance plans. Patients with questions about their coverage or prescription costs are encouraged to contact the pharmacy. Individual costs depend on the plan and medication.
