Planes and ultra lights from all over the state of Montana will gather at the Townsend Flight Festival for the 4th of July every year. Breakfast will be available for those that fly in or drive in. Airplanes of various vintages will be on display in the tie down area. Airplanes under construction will also be available to view. The EAA chapter of Helena will sponsor free airplane rides for children ages 7-17, between the hours of 10am and 1pm, with a licensed EAA pilot. Parental permission must be signed before a flight can be done. A courtesy car is available for pilots that do fly in and want to go into Townsend for the city's 4th of July activities. Other rides into town will also be available. There is a pilot's lounge and picnic area. Airplane fuel is also available. Live music will also be performed on the field. Old Fashioned 4th in the Park & Fireworks Show

Sponsored by the Townsend Area Chamber of Commerce, the event hosts a potluck picnic with hamburgers and hot dogs for $2.00, soda's & other drinks are also available. If you can please bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share with the others, but your presence is what we desire most. Please bring your children or grand children as this is a family event with games & prizes for the children.
After dark fireworks are lit at the Football Field by the school for all to enjoy. These events are growing every year, with people looking to enjoy an old fashioned 4th of July in small town rural America. These events allows quality time with friends and family. Broadwater Rod & Gun Club Walleye Derby

Broadwater Rod & Gun Club Walleye Derby is a fishing derby for adult/child, male/female or female/female teams, starting and ending at Goose Bay Marina. This is a one day walleye tournament on Canyon Ferry Lake, limited to 75 teams with a $1,000 cash first prize. Cash prizes will be awarded in all categories.
It will be a catch-and-release format, but one fish per entrant can be kept as a trophy. Contestants may have four people in a boat, but only two fishing. We will reschedule if the weather doesn't cooperate.

Slice of Summer
Mark your calendars for the Slice of Summer festivities in Heritage Fun Park. Festivities start at 2:00 pm with kid's activities and free use of the swimming pool and bouncy rooms. The pool will open at 1pm. A band will play from 5:00- 8:00 pm. This year one band will play with area youth entertaining during the band breaks.
Rotary and Lions will be selling hamburgers, nachos, bratwurst, and hot dogs at very reasonable prices. A BHS club and Broadwater County 4-H Exchange Club will be selling floats, watermelon, and healthy drinks.
The Slice of Summer is funded by donations from State Bank of Townsend, American Federal Savings, Vogl Construction, Bob's Supermarket, and the Chamber of Commerce. The local businesses and service clubs donated money to help make the event as inexpensive as possible for local families.
Mark your calendar and tell your friends to come enjoy the third annual "Slice of Summer". All proceeds from the food sales will go to fund the next Slice of Summer. Bring your dancing shoes!

The Townsend Quilt Show will be held in the Broadwater High School Gym located at the corner of North Cedar and North Spruce. Each year the local guild, 'The Quack-N-Quilters', puts on a quilt show with a great assortment of at least 120 beautiful quilts, our own Country Store, and lots of vendors. The guild members make a raffle quilt that is raffled to some lucky winner at 3:00pm on Sunday. You need not be present to win and the tickets are $1.00 for one or $5.00 for six. Admission to the show is $2.00 for adults. Children under the age of 12 are admitted free if accompanied by an adult. We'd love to have you join us at the Townsend Quilt Show!
