minutes from 12/5/17
January 2, 2018
Mayor Evans opened the meeting at 6:30 p.m. January 2, 2018 in City Hall. Council members present were: Mike Millay, Matt West, Vickie Rauser and Melissa Reddick. Council member Doris Mingay was absent. Also present were Fire Chief Mike Speedy, PWD Rauser, Attorney Swanson, Sheriff Meehan, Undersheriff Harris, Judge Flynn and Deputy Clerk Barnett. Guests present were Angie Wintrow, Ken Urich, Mike Delger, Jim Beck, Dave and Ingrid Clouse, Keith and Christina Hartmann, Pat McNeive, Craig Burns and Reporter Jessica Crusch. The Pledge was recited by all. Judge Flynn swore in Matt West, Melissa Reddick and Vickie Rauser as the new council members. Mike moved to accept the minutes of the December 19, 2017 meeting. Matt seconded the motion. Motion passed with all voting in favor. Jim Beck gave a report on the lagoon and liftstation along with the flow and discharge of the river side channel. Jim stated that out of the 6 years that they have been taking measurements that this year was the best year we have had. Jim also informed the council that he has gathered 2 days worth of data and will be continuing to gather data for this year for the next few weeks and report back when he has all the information ready. Craig Burns asked questions about the Interlocal Agreement between the city and the county for law enforcement. The mayor, council, Attorney Swanson, Sheriff Meehan, Judge Flynn and Dave Clouse all responded to the questions being asked and Burns left the meeting. Attorney Swanson informed the council that there is nothing new to report yet on the Verizon contract. Fire Chief Speedy reminded the council of the holiday party at the fire hall on Saturday at 4 pm and that they were all invited. Sheriff Meehan gave a report on the local law enforcement and informed the council that the legislature has changed the criteria for 911 funds and that without the proper certifications our county may not be receiving those funds this year. Mike made a motion to accept the claims and Melissa seconded the motion. Motion passed with all voting in favor. Melissa moved for adjournment at 7:25 p.m. Matt seconded the motion. Motion passed and the meeting was adjourned.
