There are numerous ghost towns and historic sights including ancient tipi rings, buffalo jumps, ancient petroglyphs, and Lewis and Clark sights like York Island, the Little Gates of the Mountains, and the Crimson Bluffs.

Ice Boating is also popular, as well as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Campgrounds include federal, state, private and KOA. Community events include: Walleye Festival, County Fair and NRA Rodeo, Fall Fest, Health Fair, Airport Fly-In, Car Show, Quilt Show, Cowboy Entertainer Gathering, and Christmas Stroll.
